Astros
The Houston Astros ("Stros") are a major league professional baseball team headquartered in Houston, Texas. The Astros had been initially referred to as Houston Colt.45s in 1962 and relocated to the Astrodome in 1965, which was the first indoor baseball stadium. Through time, the Astros have had both lows and highs, though they've emerged as one of the best teams in recent years, culminating in their very first World Series championship in 2017. The Astros became a member of the National League in 1962 as an expansion team and then started their adventure there. The team originally struggled to become successful, finishing eighth in their very first three seasons. The team went through a change in 1965 as they relocated to the Astrodome. Artificial turf was created at the Astrodome, referred to as the Eighth Wonder of the World, and turned into a defining component of home games because of the team for the following thirty years. The Astros became a competitive team in the late 1960s and the early 70s. The team won its 1st season in 1969 under the guidance of Joe Morgan, Larry Derrker and Jimmy Wynn, among others. The Astros obtained their very first division title in 1980, but missed the playoffs. During the 1980s, the team built on their success and included players like Jose Cruz, Mike Scott, and Nolan Ryan as leaders. The Astros encountered a changeover in the 1990s as they relocated to a brand new stadium, the Astros Field, that replaced the Astrodome and is currently called Minute Maid Park. The Astros had a tough time obtaining consistent success, however they reached the playoffs for a decade for the very first time in 1997. They lost the National League Division Series, however.
